Games delayed, Smith & Helmuth-Ingalls win

The success of Whitesboro, Proctor and RCH's high school teams have also delayed the start of some legion team's seasons.

Whitestown has been forced to postpone two games thus far. They now plan to open the season on June 13 against Parkhurst, but that could change based on the outcome of the Whitesboro varsity team's regional final versus Malone at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse. UPDATE: That game has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.

Utica played a non-league game against Ilion Post on June 5, losing 3-2. However, UP was playing shorthanded with many of its players not participating due to the prolonged Proctor season. They resume play with a full roster at 6 p.m. tonight in another non-league game against Herkimer Post at Harmon Field.

Smith and Helmuth both defended their home fields and opened their Oneida County American Legion schedules with a victory. Smith downed Roberts 6-3 on Saturday. Roberts also fell at the hands of Oneida Post, 7-6, on June 4 in a non-league match-up. Helmuth topped Moran by a score of 6-3 last night.
